In the prior blog I discussed my concerns with the health risks with GMO foods and I listed some of the alleged health risks that may come with the consumption of GMO foods. That included higher rates of heart disease, cancer, diabetes, kidney problems, and dementia, plus equally significant increased rates of emotional problems and development problems, including autism, ADHD, and pervasive developmental disorders.
Those alleged health risks from GMO foods have to be coupled to the massive increase in the use of Round Up. This extremely toxic herbicide is now approved for use on 160 different types of crops, not just genetically engineered crops, as a “ripening” agent. So, we are experiencing an explosive growth in not just GMO foods, but an explosive growth in the use of Round Up.
The highest concentrations (the most sprays) are used in the genetically engineered foods because those foods can now withstand the toxic herbicide. The other crops receive lower dose levels. For example, Round Up is currently sprayed on wheat, rye, barley, sweet potatoes, lentils, and the list goes on and on. Round Up has been studied by itself; and it has been studied in combination with genetically modified crops. With both studies, there are, according to some researchers, serious health risks.
In these studies some researchers allege that Round Up, absorbed into the various crops, causes a multitude of gastrointestinal problems. Some experts claim that Round Up binds with minerals, preventing their proper absorption. Some experts claim that Round Up is also a broad spectrum antibiotic, destroying the important healthy microbes in our intestines. Specifically, researchers claim that it kills beneficial gut bacteria, lactobacillus, which promotes reduction of any intestinal inflammation.
The same researchers allege that Round Up, especially when combined with GMO foods, leads to an overgrowth of negative bacteria in the gut. These bacteria can produce gas that can inflame the membranes of the intestines. The researchers allege that Round Up damages the microvilli of the intestinal walls, leading to more holes with more leakage of foreign, not yet fully digested, food into the blood stream, causing havoc throughout your immune system.
In summary, the negative health results from Round Up are bad enough on their own. But those results are significantly worse with the GMO foods. So, when eating GMO foods (and remember we have no labeling so we do not have any chance of knowing which foods contain GMOs), we are stuck with the serious negative effects from both of them, exponentially combing to create higher toxicity in our intestines and a subsequent degradation of our physical and emotional health.
As a final clarify point, let me repaint the typical scenario. The crops are genetically engineered and then sprayed with Round Up. The crops are harvested and turned into grain food for animals such as chicken and cattle. The contaminants in the grain are digested by the animals and further absorbed throughout their bodies, and then we eat the food without any knowledge of the above scenario. Or we eat the folk, like corn, directly. We think the food is clean and tasty. Yet, it is loaded with Round Up residue, plus genetically engineered DNA, which is buried with each of its cells. All of that combination enters our body and circulates throughout our body.
Now, here is a more visually disturbing concern. Some researchers claim they are finding rope worms in those people who have consumed GMO foods, which have been sprayed with Round Up. Those rope worms, sometimes up to two feet long, are part human and part DNA. How can that happen? Whenever we eat genetically engineered food, the implanted snippet of altered DNA could break free, not be fully digested, and then attach to a human cell in the intestinal lining. That newly created cell could break off, slowing developing into this rope worm. Researchers claim they are finding these worms in children and adults. Worse, these rope worms seems more prevalent in individuals who have developed some of the above diseases.
There is another troubling concern. When people show a positive GMO test in their blood, and when these people stop eating any GMO food and when they are placed on a strict non-GMO research diet, they still show continued high levels of GMOs in their blood for months and months. How is that possible? It can only be possible if that individual has developed (somehow) an active, living pesticide factories. Most researchers believe those pesticide factories come from contaminated and altered intestinal flora. Remember how the genetically engineered corn unleashed a pesticide /herbicide when ingested? Well, isn’t it possible that when we eat the same corn, we end up with our own intestinal pesticides producing organism?
Disgusting, yes. A serious health risk, absolutely. If the researchers are correct (and there is still ongoing debate), then we have a health problem that may not be so easily treated. How do we remove the toxins? How do we remove the snippet of DNA? And, if there are long-term consequences after a few GMO foods, maybe that explains the subsequent increasing risk of heart disease, cancer, diabetes, kidney problems, and dementia, plus the development of autism, ADHD, and pervasive development disorders. Imagine what a pesticide-producing factory could do to you, but also to your developing fetus?
